WOW travel has put together this great Golden Blue Lagoon Holiday, including return flights from London Gatwick to the Reykjavik Keflavik airport, seven nights at a great Reykjavik hotel/hostel and an enchanting trip to the Blue Lagoon and a Golden Circle tour.

This package holiday encompasses the best of Southwest Iceland and takes you to some of the most memorable and spectacular places in Europe.

Exploring the Golden Circle and the Blue Lagoon are pretty much a rite of passage that every visitor to Iceland needs to do at least once. What's the Golden Circle you might ask; it's a day trip where you drive between some of the most beautiful and spectacular places in Iceland. You'll see the magnificent waterfall Gullfoss (literally it's name is Gold Waterfall), Geysir and the national park Þingvellir, where Alþingi - the oldest parliament in the world, was founded in 930 (it's also amazingly beautiful, the vikings knew what they were doing).

Detailed description of the excursions:

The Northern Lights Tour

The Northern Lights are among the premier reasons to visit Iceland, but nature’s spectacular electromagnetic light-show doesn't always want to be seen and that’s where organised tours come into their own.
Our professional guides use years of experience and detailed weather forecasts to take you to the best location for a sighting night after
night. And although they are remarkably good at what they do, they are still happy for you to take the tour again for free if you don’t see anything.

The northern lights are a visual treat and result from the earth’s atmosphere protecting us from all the solar wind out in space that would otherwise prove deadly. The earth’s magnetic field pushes the solar particles to the north and the south and Iceland is in a prime location to enjoy the show.

Departures:

15 Sept - 15 Oct at 22:00
16 Oct – 14 March at 21:00
15 March – 15 April at 22:00

The Reykjavík Grand Excursion

The Grand Excursion is very concisely named and does exactly what it says on the tin. Much more than a quick drive around the city, this tour goes into detail about Reykjavík’s history, culture, people and future. But despite the detail, it’s not boring.
No Reykjavík tour would be complete without a visit to the grand Hallgrímskirkja cathedral, arguably Iceland’s most iconic (man-made) landmark. The glass dome of Perlan is next, as well as a trip to City Hall and its monumentally huge 3D map of Iceland, a look at the house where the Cold War began to end, and an enjoyable jaunt through the city centre, the harbour, the University of Iceland, our favourite river, and the beautiful (and big) park which is also the very heart of Icelandic sport. You might just see an Olympic athlete or an international football star. If not, you’ll have to settle for the zoo and botanical garden…
The whole experience is neatly packaged together by our expert Reykjavík tour guiding person, who loves nothing more than sharing our city’s secrets and simply spreading the love, so to speak.

Golden Circle

The Golden Circle is undoubtedly Iceland’s most famous day tour, as it includes three of the country’s most recognisable attractions in one  simple 300km round trip.

On this trip you will be treated to hot water, flying water, deep water, clear water, fast water and tumbling white water. All the while remaining firmly on dry land.
At Þingvellir National Park you will see unbelievably clear, deep blue water in Peningagjá, into which you might choose to throw a coin or two and watch how long they take to sink to the deep bottom. You may also see Lake Þingvallavatn, Iceland’s biggest, which is world famous as a dive site due to its spookily clear water.
Þingvellir is also famous as the site of the founding of modern democracy about a thousand years ago, for the fact that the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are slowly pulling the place apart, and for being the place where Icelanders executed their accused ‘witches’ by drowning. It is also famous for its natural beauty, plants, birds, animals and the Öxarárfoss waterfall.

But Öxarárfoss is no match for Gullfoss. Gullfoss is one of the most impressive natural phenomena in Europe: a huge, roaring staircase of a waterfall, throwing up clouds of spray and succeeding enviably at making us humans feel very, very small indeed.

The Golden Circle tour also takes in Geysir – the geyser which gave its name to create the word geyser. Ironically your chances of seeing Geysir erupt while you are at Geysir these days are extremely slim; but its little brother Strokkur is a couple of footsteps away and throws
scalding water up to 30 metres high every few minutes. While you’re waiting there’s plenty of other hot springs and bubbling mud pools to keep you entertained.

Departure: 09.00 with pick-up available from all major hotels and guesthouses in Reykjavík around 30 minutes before departure.
Duration: 8 - 9 hours
Level of difficulty: Easy
Included: Coach fare, guide and entrance to the Geysir museum.
Not included: Lunch and refreshments.

Whale Watching

Everyone loves Wales. But that has nothing to do with this. Most people love whales as well…and Iceland is an especially good place to go and see them in their natural habitat. Seeing them is made all the easier by stepping aboard a boat and heading offshore and there is no finer whale watching boat in which to make the voyage than Andrea. That’s precisely why she is the boat we choose to use.
On your three hour adventure, you will see water, you will see Reykjavík and the surrounding countryside from a unique angle, you will see plenty of seabirds (which fly so close that they surprise many by being one of the highlights of the trip), and you will hear engaging and useful commentary from our expert guide.
With any luck you will also see dolphins, porpoises, great whales, or maybe even all three.
Due to Andrea’s expert and experienced crew, this tour has the enviable distinction of seeing whales over 95% of the time. That’s mighty impressive when you consider we are talking about wild animals who live underwater!  You are most likely to see minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, harbor porpoises and humpback whales – but there are other rarer visitors around as well…
In addition to the expert guide, this tour also guarantees an inside seat for all passengers, warm overalls if you get cold, and a free tour if you are not lucky enough to see any whales first time round. There is a café/bar on board.

The South Shore tour

This one is about Nature, with a capital ‘N’.
The varied tour shows off Iceland’s famous black sand beaches and the Reynisdrangar rock formations; but away from the seashore itself you will also get the chance to experience the weird Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which you can walk right behind, and the tall and booming Skógafoss waterfall, which you cannot walk behind (unless you want to get squished). Getting up close to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier is only one of the other highlights, which also include cliffs teeming with birds, a fascinating folk museum teeming with history and the town of Vík, teeming with charm and good views.

Relax at the Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is not to be missed while you are in Iceland. The Blue Lagoon's world famous warm waters contain a unique cocktail of natural mineral ingredients like mineral salts, silica and blue-green algae which help you relax and unwind while the Blue Lagoon white silica mud gently cleanses and exfoliates your skin.
This tour includes coach travel to the Blue Lagoon from Reykjavík or Keflavík International Airport and entry to the Blue Lagoon, followed by more coach travel to your choice of Reykjavík or the airport. Departure and return times are flexible, with as many as 11 coaches a day in high-summer.

So while the waters relax body and soul, the coach company ensures there’s no stress in getting there and back. Pick-up and drop-off at your hotel is also on offer.
Included: Return bus fare and admission to the Blue Lagoon.

And if this isn't enough, there are loads of optional extras for you to choose from. Whichever tour you're on, we can accommodate your wishes. If you choose a tour without whale watching but really want to see whales…no problem! Perhaps you’re itching to ride an Icelandic horse? Again, no problem! You’ll get the same answer if you want to go on a super jeep tour, go up on a glacier, try snorkeling, hiking, trekking or biking. Just ask us…
